The speculation around this year's gaming ceremony was significant, particularly after host Geoff Keighley posted a puzzling photo of a desert monolith. The question has been revealed. The acclaimed developer is creating a fresh Divinity game.
Titled simply Divinity, the game was showcased with a daring trailer featuring memorable imagery, from a burning man to an orgy and the literal unleashing of hell.
A Different Direction
Anyone hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian stated ahead of time that a third Original Sin game to its venerated RPGs is not currently in development.
However, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a continuation of the main series. This phrasing implies that the team is likely building a faster-paced experience instead of another tactical title. At this moment, this is speculation, as only a announcement clip is available.
What Makes Divinity Special
The Divinity series is highly rated and arguably it pioneered the recent resurgence of deep computer role-playing games. These games are known for detailed worlds, branching plots, and flexible progression—elements that subsequently were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its world is classic fantasy, what makes Divinity apart is the immense freedom granted to the player.
In contrast to modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is full of niche playthroughs only possible by choosing a particular class or origin with a personal story.
The series is also wonderfully permissive, letting players to experiment throughout the entire experience. Virtually all objectives can be solved in a variety of manners, frequently in unexpected fashion.
- You might progress the story because you remembered something a dog told you.
- Or, you could defeat a foe by teleporting a glob of lava in a clever way.
The Journey Continues
It is these creative systems that allow people to hail games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as one of the best role-playing games ever made. Now, fans can look forward to more where that came from in this groundbreaking franchise.
