Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking political figure stated the incident left him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
